The basics

The opening word crosses the center ★. After that, every play must connect to the board.
Every new word your tiles create must be valid. Acronyms and abbreviation soup do not get a sympathy pass.
Miss the definition or run out of time = 0 play points. The word stays on the board, so yes, it can still haunt you.

Add the letter values in every new word, then pile on board bonuses. Use all 7 tiles in one play for +15.
Define correctly by 2s / 4s / 6s to bank 4⚡ / 2⚡ / 1⚡. Speed points are saved, not added to your score right away.

⚡ Your panic fund

Every unused 1⚡ = +1 final point. Greed is encouraged.
Need rescuing? Spend 6⚡ for +5 sec or 12⚡ for +10 sec. One extension per definition, max 20 seconds total.
If you extend a definition, you can save the play—but you cannot earn new ⚡ on that question. Nice try.

⏱ Chase the clock

Every match hides three randomly placed time spaces in plain sight: two +5 sec and one +10 sec.
Land a newly placed tile on one to capture a single-use time token. Use it immediately or save it for a scarier word.
Unused time tokens expire at the end. They are tools, not free points.

The catch: playing the word is the easy part. Now… Define That.
